Sustainability that drives real impact

Fortaco’s sustainability work focuses on three key areas: environment, people, and governance. Through ambitious targets, responsible operations, and collaboration with our partners, we are building a more sustainable value chain for the future.

Environmental sustainability

Climate program

Fortaco’s group-wide Climate program defines our path toward carbon neutrality. It covers establishing our emissions baseline, setting science-based targets aligned with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 °C pathway, and preparing a transition plan. The program helps us reduce CO₂ emissions and drive continuous improvement across all operations.

Product design & life-cycle management

We collaborate with customers to develop solutions that support their green transition. Fortaco’s innovations help reduce the life-cycle emissions of vehicles and machinery through weight-optimized designs, carefully selected materials, and new technologies. By using low-emission steel, we reduce environmental impact across the entire product life cycle.

Sustainable supply chain collaboration

Our environmental impact extends beyond our own operations. We work closely with suppliers to ensure that they share our commitment to sustainability. Together, we promote responsible sourcing, energy efficiency, recycling, and the use of renewable and low-carbon materials.

Social sustainability

Safe and inclusive workplace

At Fortaco, safety comes first. We strive for a zero-accident workplace where everyone actively contributes to risk reduction. Our commitment includes continuous training, safety campaigns, modern protective equipment, and well-being initiatives. We promote equal treatment, diversity, and career development to ensure every employee feels valued and respected.

Human rights and supply chain responsibility

Fortaco’s operations are located in Europe, where the risk of serious human rights violations is low. Still, we take our responsibility seriously throughout the supply chain. Through our Code of conduct and Supplier handbook, we require suppliers to follow national laws and international labor and human rights standards. We collaborate with trusted partners who share our ethical principles.

Local communities and engagement

Fortaco recognizes its role in local communities. We create jobs, support local initiatives and contribute to economic growth. Our people take part in community activities and campaigns that strengthen the connection between Fortaco and the regions where we operate.

Sustainability governance

Ethical business practices

Fortaco’s business conduct is guided by our values, Code of Conduct and international frameworks such as the UN Guiding principles on Business and human rights. We maintain the highest ethical standards, promote integrity and expect the same from all business partners. Training and communication ensure that every employee understands and acts according to our ethical commitments.

Compliance and risk management

We continuously develop our sustainability data systems, automate reporting and integrate sustainability into core business processes. The CSRD regulation defines clear reporting criteria and expectations, and Fortaco’s sustainability governance is aligned accordingly. Our approach ensures transparency, accountability and compliance in everything we do.

Responsible supply chain governance

We manage environmental and social risks through a category- and country-specific risk assessment approach. This helps us focus improvement actions where they have the greatest impact. Fortaco works proactively to meet new regulatory and stakeholder expectations while supporting sustainability development throughout the supply chain.
