Fortaco Estonia awarded "Grand Prix: The Best Narva Company 2014"
According to long tradition, Narva authorities have announced the Best Companies of the Year in Narva, Estonia. In this years' competition, Fortaco Estonia was awarded for Grand Prix – The Best Narva Company 2014.
Fortaco Estonia wants to thank Narva authorities for such a high recognition, as well as its' devoted employees who made this award possible.
Fortaco Group – Gold Winner of SAP Quality Award 2014
Fortaco Group has been selected as Gold Winner of the SAP Quality Awards in the Rapid Deployment category in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
The SAP Project was implemented during the autumn 2013 in accordance with the cost estimate, schedule and performance. Go alive was 1 January 2014 without any business disturbances. Currently, Holic, Kurikka and Wroclaw business sites within Fortaco are using SAP as the ERP system.
Gold winner’s plaque and certificate are awarded in the local award ceremony in Helsinki, Finland on October 21, 2014. Furthermore, as the Gold Winner in the Nordic and Baltic Countries, Fortaco is advancing to the regional contest of SAP Quality Awards across all of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Fortaco and Jungheinrich signed a Strategic Partner Agreement
Fortaco and Jungheinrich have signed a Frame Contract for Production Material on October 2, 2014. The agreement starts initially with forklift cabins, and it offers great opportunities to enlarge the steel weldment business further between Fortaco and Jungheinrich. This business partnership is also an indication of Fortaco’s competitiveness in Central Europe.
Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, logistics systems, services and advice.Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
Linkker and Fortaco will start manufacturing cooperation
Linkker and Fortaco have signed a cooperation agreement on October 6, 2014 with the aim to start the manufacturing of electric city buses in Sastamala in 2015. The agreement is based on the manufacturing of new electric-powered city buses, which Linkker is selling and marketing as well as further developing. Fortaco is responsible for the manufacturing of buses.
Demand for electrical buses is increasing rapidly, Linkker and Fortaco both see that with this agreement they are enable to respond to the growing demand. In practice, this agreement allows the annual production capacity initially for 200 vehicles in Fortaco Sastamala Business Site and there are also possibilities for broader annual production at Fortaco’s current manufacturing network.
Fortaco has extensive experience in the various type of machinery and vehicle manufacturing, it can quickly respond to the increasing demand. Fortaco has production sites in several locations in Europe; it has an extensive and skilled network of subcontractors.
Fortaco delivered welded components to the world's biggest Reachstacker made by Kalmar
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has produced the world’s biggest Reachstacker machine, the Super Gloria. This machine has a proven lifting capacity over 100 tonnes and is by that the world’s biggest Reachstacker. Fortaco has been Kalmar’s trusted supplier partner already for several years and got for the reason possibility to participate of this important project. Fortaco supplied to Kalmar the entire main welded components like boom, chassis and steering axle.
The Super Gloria reachstacker range is the world’s largest industrial reachstacker in Kalmar’s hugely successful Gloria range. It boasts a completely new design, developed to meet customer’s critical specifications with lift capacities up to 120 tonnes depending on application. The Super Gloria model has been augmented with a specially raised cab to enhance visibility and a wheelbase of 9.25m to provide maximum stability.

Düsseldorf office is now open
In order to improve its reach and to better serve its current and potential customers, Fortaco has opened a new sales office in Düsseldorf, Germany. Düsseldorf office is Fortaco’s fourth sales office in Europe after Finland (HQ), Sweden and Netherlands, supporting Fortaco’s manufacturing sites in Finland, Estonia, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.

Lars Hellberg appointed as President and CEO of Fortaco Group
Fortaco Group has appointed Lars Hellberg (B.Sc. (Eng.) as President and CEO of Fortaco Group starting from mid-December 2013 the latest. He will be based at Fortaco’s headquarters in Helsinki.
Mr. Hellberg has extensive experience from engineering and automotive industries. Before joining Fortaco, he was President PowerTech division & Executive Vice President at Wärtsilä Corporation, where he served on the Board of Management since 2004. He has held various positions at Wärtsilä with focus on the Industrial operations, Research & Development and a strong focus of establishments in all BRICK countries. He also was Managing Director for the large European financed Hercules program since 2004 focusing on clean energy and highest engine efficiency. Prior to that, he was a member of the Board of Management at Saab Automotive AB, Executive Director for the Customer Satisfaction & Quality division and member of General Motors Europe Executive board for Quality between 2001 and 2004. He began his career in 1985 at Volvo Cars AB, where he worked until 2001. He held positions e.g. as Research Engineer within advanced engineering, Project Director for power train and vehicle development programmes, General Manager for Volvo Car Operations BV and Vice President of Global Business & Volume Optimization within Marketing, Sales & Services. Mr. Hellberg is a Swedish national and has worked mostly outside Sweden in Europe, Asia and the US.

Mr. Hellberg will replace Esko Harila, who has been acting Managing Director for the interim period. Mr. Harila will resume his duties as CFO.
